We're delighted to bring you a second chance to hear the music from our Deddington Festival concert, Sounds Sublime, along with some additional pieces.
From the beautiful four-part harmonies of
pieces such as Gibbons The Silver Swan,
Byrd’s The Nightingale and local
composer Paul Burke’s Lumen through
solo pieces including Elgar’s Sea
Pictures and Butterworth’s Is My Team
Ploughing, to Debussy’s stunning piano work Cathedrale Engloutie. All
this interspersed with the moving and thought provoking poetry of AE Housman’s A Shropshire Lad which so many English
composers have set to music.
A truly sublime afternoons music; the perfect antidote to the close of summer and the onset of autumn
